Women in Civil Awards

Since 2012, CCF WA has presented the Women in Civil Award at our annual Industry & Training Awards. This year, we instituted four new Women in Civil Awards (three individual and one corporate).

The 2025 Women in Civil Awards were presented at the Women in Civil Lunch on Thursday, 17 July, by Minister for Women the Honourable Simone McGurk MLA and Main Roads WA Acting Executive Director Infrastructure Delivery Belinda Stopic, along with event sponsors Busy At Work, Geoquest and SWIP.

Winners

Women in Civil Industry Leader Award Emma Moebius, BMD

Emma’s leadership as Regional Commercial Manager ensures high-performing, commercially sound outcomes while promoting fairness and sustainability across the supply chain. She champions diversity and inclusion across all levels of the business. She chairs the WA Regional Inclusion Working Group, represents the region on the national Women@BMD committee and leads initiatives that create meaningful, lasting change.

Women in Civil Emerging Leader Award Mairead Breen, FSC Civils

As General Manager, Mairead exemplifies leadership, resilience, and a deep commitment to building a more inclusive, people focused civil construction industry. Her commitment to people extends to creating pathways for growth and mentoring. She directly supports the progression of team members, and has led recruitment reforms to prioritise potential over experience, creating opportunities for women entering or re-entering the workforce.

Women in Civil Trainee/Apprentice Award Abbey-Lee Johnson, Apex Utilities

Motivated by a desire to expand her capabilities, Abbey-Lee’s completion of the Cert III in Trenchless Technology marks a groundbreaking achievement as  the first female to do so throughout Australia. Abbey’s strong leadership qualities and deep understanding of trenchless techniques saw her rapidly promoted to Team Leader—a role she took on with professionalism, precision and pride.

Women in Civil Corporate Leader Award BMD

In a sector where women have been historically underrepresented, BMD is committed to driving lasting change to advance gender equality and create opportunities for generations to come. In WA, women represent 22% of BMD’s workforce. This achievement reflects BMD’s values-led approach, outlined in its National Gender Equality Action Plan.
